Palatine, in Cook
County, is an affluent community with over 113,000 people within its
borders. It is served by State Highway 53, and US Highways 12 and 14,
about 35 miles northwest of Chicago.
The village of Palatine was founded in 1855 and built around a station
on the new Chicago and Northwestern Railway. By 1866, Palatine was
incorporated as a village.
There are quite a number of events, festivals and attractions in and
around Palatine and, of course, there is a wealth of activity in the
metro area. Locally, Palatine features a 4th of July Parade, an annual
Street Fest and much, much more.
The Salt Creek Rural Park District was founded in 1956, and is within
the boundaries of 3 cities - the southeast limits of Palatine, the
western edge of Arlington Heights and the north-central border of
Rolling Meadows. |
